Situation

Narbonne, capitale of the Gaule narbonnaise, then residence of the visigoths kings and archiepiscopal city, counts nowadays more than 52 542 citizens (legal population 2007 - INSEE 1st January 2010).

Port of the whole Celtic Sea in antiquity, place of convergence of civilizations for over 2000 years, Narbonne is the daughter of the Mediterranean for its privileged location.
With its 17554 hectares, the town of Narbonne has the largest territory of the department but also the most diversified territory.

At the center of the Basse Plaine de l'Aude, it extends from east to west, from the Mediterranean Sea to the foothills of the Corbières Maritimes, including a limestone massif of the Clape, and from north to south, of the actual current of the Aude, near the island of Sainte-Lucie, including more than half of the ponds of Bages-Sigean.

Located on the shore of one of the most touristic regions in France, Narbonne has thus, both the many advantages of a seaside resort (5km of beach, marina…) and of a urban center full of history (heritage, museums, Canal de la Robine …)

The city also enjoys a strategic location. While making a tribute to her famous mother country (Rome), we also show how « All roads lead to Narbonne ».

The national roads 9 and 113 make it their junction, as well as the motorways A9 and A61. The motorway A9 links Spain to Europe, from the North or to Italy, via the Rhone valley or la Provence.

The motorway A61 links the Mediterranean with the Atlantic, serving Toulouse (Midi-Pyrénées region) and Bordeaux (Aquitaine region).

Moreover, the railway lines Port-Bou/Perpignan/Paris and Bordeaux/Marseille/Vintimille join, making the train station of Narbonne, the strategic place of the south of France.

Moreover, several airports are located nearby.
